Peppermint Essential Oil

Did you know that athletes have long used peppermint to fuel a run? Here are some of the benefits of this versatile oil:

  • Alleviates stomach upset when taken internally (great for a nervous racer!)
  • Relieves head tension (rub one drop on the temples and feel the tension melt away)
  • Increases mental alertness and concentration
  • Reduces perceived effort
  • Supports clearer breathing - a must for any runner!

A drop of peppermint oil in a glass of water has been shown to support excerise performance and respiratory function in athletes according to a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

My favorite way to use Peppermint Oil:  Place 1 drop of Peppermint and 2 drops of WIld Orange in the palm of your hands, rub, cup, and take 3 deep breaths.  You will feel energized and ready for your next workout, while supporting your respiratory system!
